The new ETER (4th Edition), was published by the Leeds and District Traction Engine Club in October and is now available to purchase via the Club website or direct from the President.   Considerable assistance with its production has been rendered by Mortons of Horncastle, through Old Glory magazine, to which the club is indebted.
The previous compilers, Derek Rayner and John Toy, have been joined on this occasion by David Parfitt, who has a major interest in steam fire engines and therefore has been able to bring many details of this type of machine, and others, to the book.   The last edition of this useful work was published in 2005 and the one before that in 1995, so the Register’s 10th anniversary in 2015 seemed appropriate for a further edition.
Many more engines have come to notice in the intervening years and with many imports, especially from the US, several ‘new’ manufacturers are now included, giving a total of 280!   Additional countries where engines are known to be located have also been included such that there are now 37 of these listed, an increase of seven.
There are now almost 2900 entries (up from 1800) and some 570 museums (previously 270) listed - both substantial increases from the previous edition!
